Cannonball Bay

Cannonball Bay Slot Review

We're back on the High Seas for yet another pirate movie. There always seems to be plenty of these on the slot game market, even before Pirates of the Caribbean came out. At least this is Cannonball Bay not Cannon and Ball Bay, the thought of those two aged comics would drive me mad.

Cannonball Bay is a five reel game with three rows and 25 paylines. You can play this game from £0.01 up to £25. Simply choose a stake you feel comfortable with and can afford to lose.

Symbols in this game are a mixture of theme-related ones and a heck of a lot of playing card symbols. Out of the 15 symbols that are on show, it's usual for at least ten to be non theme-related and that's too many in my opinion. At least the 9 to Ace symbols have a couple of swords in the background. We do get a pirate, an anchor, a ship's wheel, a locked chest and barrels.

The wild symbol in this game is the cannon and can substitute for all other symbols apart from the scatter. The scatter symbol in Cannonball Bay is the Spanish sailor and he plays a big part in winning you some excellent prizes.

Above the reels there are a couple of galleons and the control buttons below the reels have a pirate-themed look.

There's plenty of explosions and smoke in this game with the cannons being continually fired. The atmosphere of the game is enhanced by the impressive soundtrack.

This isn't a complex game to play but you are advised to have a quick look through the paytable and view pays. A few free games won't hurt either as you prepare to put your real cash on the line. The game comes in a regular and expert mode, the only real difference being the ability to set autoplay in the expert mode. There's also a statistics option right at the bottom of the reels showing you how long you've been playing, biggest win etc.

Bonus Game

To get some free spins you need to get one or more of the purple sweets anywhere on the reels. The To get some free spins you need to get at least three of the Spanish sailor scatter symbols on the reels. This gets you five free spins which may sound a fairly small amount but there's much more to this bonus game than meets the eye. With each of the free spins a cannonball is fired onto the reels and this explosion turns other symbols on the reel into wilds. This can lead to plenty of more winning combinations being created and I've certainly had some big wins from this bonus round. It's also possible to get another set of five free spins if you can land three of the scatter symbols on the reels.

Conclusion

I might be moaning about the number of non theme related symbols in the game but that's just about my only complaint. The bonus game really can get you some excellent wins, especially if you can retrigger the free spins. An enjoyable game to play and mainly the theme is well adhered to.
