Back in the day when I used to play fruit machines I couldn’t have imagined a game like ‘Fruit Warp’ from Thunderkick. This really has a strange look to it but once you’ve got used to it, there’s lots of fun and games to be had here.
Thunderkick don’t really like creating slot games that look like all the other ones out there. They have certainly achieved that with this game. Even the introduction to the game is a bit weird. We see an orange hanging from a tree but as is often the case, it gets swept away into a fruit warp. A bit like the time warp but with a healthy lunch break attached. As well as the orange there’s a plum, grapes, star-fruit, cherries, bananas, strawberries and more that you always see down your local market.
The game has no paylines and the cost of playing ‘Fruit Warps’ costs between £0.10 and £100. You shouldn’t have any problem finding a level to bet at that fits in with your financial budget. But with no paylines, you might be asking just how do you get wins in this game? Well what you need is to match three of the symbols. As you’ll read shortly, getting four matching symbols takes you into a really interesting part of the game.
The look of the game does take a bit of getting used to with the symbols just sort of floating in mid-air. Take a look through the paytable and the rules and try to get some free games before risking your cash. The game also has an autoplay feature that can be set by the player and changed or stopped at any time.
In order to get into the bonus features your task is to get four or five of the same kind of fruit on any spin of the reels. Five will see you heading straight into the feature but what if you fall one short and only get four? Well those four symbols stay exactly where they are and the others respin, this is known as the Portal Respin. You’ll be hoping of course that this respin will see the arrival of the one symbol you need to get into the feature. If it doesn’t turn up then there’s no more chances and you’re back to square one and it’s time to feed the machine again.
Hopefully though you’ll be in the main feature, either on the first attempt or via the Portal Respin. A scale appears underneath the fruit and you need to make your way along it. There are multipliers to collect while on your journey so that won’t do your account balance any harm.
Moving your way along the scale is achieved by getting at least one of the fruit symbols that got you into the feature in the first place making another appearance. There’s also the chance to get an extra life that sees you being awarded an additional spin if you fail to land a matching symbol.
This is a strange game both in the way it looks and how it’s played. The lack of reels or paylines is different but just weird looking. The bonus feature also gets a bit complicated and you really need a good look through the paytable and rules. It’s possible to get some good wins though so that’s good to know.
