Gladiator

Gladiator Slot Review

Most of us have fond memories of the epic movie 'Gladiator' though I still prefer 'Carry On Cleo' to be honest. Russell Crowe was excellent in the title role putting on another dodgy accent but at least he didn't sing. Here's the Playtech slot based on 'Gladiator' and like the vast majority of their slot games it's another roaring success.

This is a five reel game that has 25 paylines. They aren't fixed so you have to decide just how many to activate. The game can be played from between £0.01 and £1250 if you choose the maximum bet. That's for real high rollers so just make a stake that fits your financial budget.

The symbols includes several of the characters from the movie but not Russell Crowe. That's probably down to images rights. That's a shame but we do get some clips from the film when a winning combination is achieved. There's also the nine to Ace playing card numbers, probably one or two too many. If you can get five Emperor symbols on one active payline that wins you 5000x your stake.

The wild symbol in this game is the Gladiator helmet and this substitutes for all the symbols in the game apart from the scatter. That's the coliseum and plays a big part in the bonus feature, all will be revealed about that shortly.

There is a bonus feature in 'Gladiator.' This is of the guess the colour of the next card variety. You can double your money or lose the win and the win limit is £1000. You can collect your winnings at any time so don't get carried away, all winning streaks come to an end sadly and one too many attempts at guessing the colour can cost you some good wins.

Bonus Games

Three of the scatter symbol gets you into the Coliseum Bonus feature. Here you have to pick some stones and the first row decides how many free spins you get. The next row determines your multiplier, the third reveals how many scatter symbols there'll be and the fourth decides which symbol will be an additional wild. All very useful weaponry for the bonus round and can help you get some good wins. If on top form you can get 24 free spins with a 3x multiplier. When you get into the feature itself there's another three free spins up for grabs if the Emperor symbol ends up on the middle reel.

That's not the only bonus game as we also have the Gladiator Bonus Feature. You need three Gladiator helmets on the second, third and fourth reels to trigger this. Again there's some picking to do because there are nine helmets and they reveal either gold, silver or bronze prizes. It's possible to win 5x your bet here per choice and a lucky streak will see you leaving the round with 45x your stake. That won't happen often of course but there are still some good wins to be had here.

Conclusion

It's a shame there's no Russell Crowe here, I wish he'd done the same in the Les Miserables movie. The game has a good look to it and the bonus games can be very profitable. No wonder it's another big hit for Playtech.
