1429 Unchartered Seas

1429 Unchartered Seas Slot Review

Let's go all the way back to the 15th century when setting sail and trying to find new countries seemed to be a popular pastime. Trouble is they also seemed to run into a few mermaids and monsters and voyages often only required a single ticket due to the danger incurred.

This is a five reel slot game that has 25 paylines. That number is a fixed amount so there's no decision to be made over just how many paylines you can afford to fund. The only decision you do have is to decide how much you are going to stake on each spin and this ranges from £0.10 to £100. If you press the button in the bottom left hand corner, the one that always reminds me of a set of floodlights, this brings up a panel that allows you to set the stake. It also allows you to see the paytable and you can also set an autoplay feature all the way up to 5000 automated spins if you so wish.

The symbols in this game really are quite special. Rather than the usual style of reels everything is presented in the form of a map and it looks very different indeed. The symbols look more like drawings and include sea monsters, one that looks like a relative of the Loch Ness Monster, a turtle, a squid, a mermaid with an arm conveniently covering up her best assets and a lobster. There's also the moon, star and the sun. No playing card symbols here, perhaps they get sea sick.

The wild symbol is the ship and substitutes for all other symbols apart from the scatter (the compass) to help you get some winning combinations. It only appears on the second, third and fourth reels and is of the expanding variety. If it's involved in a winning combination it expands vertically and really helps get you more wins.

Bonus Games

If you can get at least three of the compass symbols anywhere on the reels then this gets you some free spins. Three compasses get you ten, four see you given 20 and if five turn up on the reels then you'll get a whopping 50 free spins and that can really get you some wins.

If the compass appears again then that's another five spins on their way. 50 is the maximum you can get in this game so if you were lucky enough to get 50 free spins to start with then there won't be anymore to be added. 50 free spins isn't a bad figure though and if you have gotten into the bonus game with only 10 or 20 free spins then you'll definitely be keeping your eyes out for the compass symbol, especially as your free spins begin to run out.

Conclusion

I really like this game. The design of it is excellent and there always seem to be some wins coming along. Not always big ones but if you can trigger the bonus round then there are some impressive wins to be had.
