Drone Wars

Drone Wars Slot Review

Science fiction is always going to be popular even if some of the fiction somehow becomes true as the years go by. There's often nothing better than a battle in space with an alien species that's not too keen on being our friends. Well if you're a sci-fi fan then you'll love the slot game 'Drone Wars.'
This comes from Microgaming who have been producing some out of this world games for the past couple of decades. It's not quite Star Wars but a heck of a lot better than some of the sci-fi games.

'Drone Wars' has five reels and there are 25 paylines. Your main decisions are just how many of those paylines you're going to activate and your total stake. The range here goes from £0.01 to £500 which is bound to be able to allow you to find your own level to play at.

There's a futuristic look to the game which is to be expected of course. Even in the future and in outer space those playing card symbols still exist. I won't get too upset because you know what they say, in space no one can hear you scream. Aside from the Jack to Ace symbols we have a pink/green drone, a ray gun, a capsule, two pilots and a blue space craft.

The wild symbol in this game is the drone. This helps you get some winning combinations by substituting for other symbols in the game. All except the scatter symbol which is the black hole.

All the control buttons are all down the bottom of the screen allowing you to easily set your stake. There's also an autoplay button, you can either just have five or ten automated spins or set your own.

Bonus Games

Managing to get three or more of the black hole scatter symbols gets you into the Drone Wars Battle Plan Bonus Game. Now this all sounds a bit dramatic doesn't it? So what does this entail?

Well, there's the choice of two games to play here. You can either have a go at the Space Attack which is a free spins bonus round. You're given five free spins but this is no normal free spins round. Just before each of your spins a number of symbols appear on the reels and then get blown up by a drone. Don't despair though because they then turn into wild symbols. Now this really makes the game interesting because it gives you a great chance of winning some excellent cash prizes. It's also possible to get five more free spins if three or more of the black holes make another appearance at the same time.

The other game is the Planetary Assault which sounds a bit more ambitious doesn't it. Here you have a spaceship that has lots of drones after it and your job is to use your ray gun to destroy the drones. Each one you manage to destroy wins you a cash amount. It's not easy though because this is a war after all. They fire back at you and you can withstand being it three times. The next time is game over and time to collect your winnings. The big target is to destroy 20 drones because that wins you 500x your bet.

Conclusion

If you like sci-fi then this is a game you'll enjoy. The graphics aren't that sensational but enjoyable enough and the soundtrack fits the theme well. The bonus games are enjoyable to play and not too difficult to trigger. So in all it's a game definitely worth playing.
