Lucky Angler Slot Review
It’s time to go fishing but remember to bring your coat. Rather than a trip down the local river where you might catch a fish if you’re lucky, we’re in a much colder climate. ‘Lucky Angler-Snowy Catch is another great game from NetEnt who if they were fishermen would come home with a boat full of fish after every trip, they’re just that talented.
The screen shows a snowy land and there’s plenty of ice around. The reels themselves give us a view of what lies beneath the icy surface and may or may not be on our dinner plates later in the evening. This is a five-reel game with three rows of symbols and a total of 15 paylines. That amount is fixed so your main job before spinning the reels is deciding your stake. The minimum stake is £0.30 and the maximum £150, a decent range for players who are just having fun and those who want to win some serious money. There may only be the 15 paylines but in this game wins pay in both directions so there are plenty of winning opportunities here.
Symbols in the game are rather fishy. There’s fish, lobsters and crabs all waiting to be caught or doing their best to avoid ending up on someone’s plate. There’s also a old boot and I’ve caught a fair few of those in my time. The wild symbol in this game is the gold coloured fish (not quite sure what it is, my fishy knowledge is pretty much confined to cod, plaice or haddock) and this can substitute for other symbols to get you winning combinations. When it does do that there’s a bit of animation as it appears to have been caught and is making its way to the surface and an oven sometime later that day.
There’s a big bonus with the wild though because when it does create a winning combination it becomes sticky if on the second or fourth reel. That means it’ll stay in place for the next spin and with that on the reels another win could be just around the corner. The symbol that has three fish swimming is the scatter symbol in this game, this helps you get into the bonus game and can’t be substituted by the wild for that very reason.
This isn’t the most complicated of games and easy to operate. If you want to set some automated spins, then you can set between ten and a thousand. A thousand is a lot but it might give you time to pop down the chippie for a fish and chip supper.
To get into the free spins bonus round you need at least three of the scatter symbols to appear anywhere on the reels. Three will earn you a total of ten free spins, four takes that up to 15 and five wins you 20 free spins. Your chances of getting wins during the free spins are increased by the fact that there will be a sticky wild on the third reel. More can show up on the second and fourth if you’re really being lucky.
Another great game from NetEnt. It looks good and the theme is an interesting one with a bit of humour thrown in with the symbols. The bonus game and the sticky wild can definitely get you some good wins here.
