Wild Catch

Wild Catch Slot Review

I’ve never had that much luck fishing to be honest. No big catches for me and even my sandwiches got pinched by a dog that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Well this slot from Microgaming takes us sea fishing and considering my history of sea sickness that’s definitely not for me.

The symbols in this game are really large so there’s no space for much of a backdrop. We can just about see some blue sea but no sign of any fishermen, boats or fish. This is a five-reel game that has three rows of symbols and 243 ways to win. It manages to do that because wins are paid for getting matching symbols on adjacent reels rather than set paylines. Playing the game will cost you between £0.30 and £150, so a bit dearer than some games but you should have few problems finding a level you can comfortably play at.

Symbols include a weighing scale (never needed one of those when I went fishing), a fishing boat, a trophy (never won one) and a squid. We also get the nine to Ace playing card symbols which is too many in my opinion. Why not give us at least one more theme-related symbol?

The wild symbol in this game is the swordfish. This is a bit busy because it has the ability to activate a mini-game as well as substitute for other symbols. There’s also a fisherman in a lifebuoy that is the scatter symbol and this can also get you some free spins.

This is a busy game so it's important to have a look at the paytable. That way you'll never be left wondering what the heck just happened. Have some free games too to build up your knowledge of the game even further.

Bonus Games

Three of the wild symbols trigger the mini-free spins round. This gets you five free spins and all the wins you get are tripled. If the wild turns up again and gets you a winning combination this gets you another free spin.
This really is a bit of a free spins heaven because three or more scatters get you more games you don’t have to pay for. Three scatters gets you 10 free spins, four awards you 15 and five 20.

At the start of the feature you have a 1x multiplier, each win you get increases it by one if that winning combination had a wild symbol. This can go all the way up to 10x if your luck is in.

Conclusion

Another great slot from Microgaming. The theme is a good one though I’d prefer to see less of the playing card symbols. It’s good to see that there are two bonus games here and interesting that the wild has a bit more to do in this game. Lots of free spins being available is always handy and if you can get the multiplier increasing steadily you can really get some good wins. The top win is 7500x so that's definitely worth chasing so this is definitely recommended.
