Cartoon Capers

Cartoon Capers slot game review

I have to admit to something right away. I'm a massive fan of the classic cartoon series 'Wacky Races.' I've actually got them all on video and still watch them every now and then. We used to have a sweepstake on who'd win at school and some poor soul (sometimes yours truly) ended up with Dick Dastardly! Well 'Cartoon Capers' is based on that great show and some of the best characters from the series are here to entertain us again.

This comes from 1x2 Gaming who have produced some great slot games. 'Cartoon Capers' is a five reel game that has 25 paylines available for you to get some wins on. Playing the game ranges from £0.01 (that's a 1p stake with 1 coin on 1 payline) all the way up to £125 which is 50p with five coins on all of the 25 paylines. Just choose a stake that you feel comfortable with and don't let financial issues ruin your enjoyment of the game.

The look of the game is ok, nothing spectacular though and the soundtrack has some good racing sounds. Symbols include such fantastic characters as The Ant Hill Mob, Peter Perfect, Penelope Pitstop, Dick Dastardly and of course the dog we all loved, Muttley. Apparently they have slightly different names here I guess for legal reasons but we know who they are. There's also a General though he doesn't look like the one in the series. Sadly there are also the nine to Ace symbols which is a bit of a waste really because I'd have loved to see other characters from the show such as the cavemen and Professor Pat Pending.

There's an evil professor kind of symbol which is the wild and can really help you get some good wins here. It can substitute for the other symbols in the game aside from the bonus and scatter symbols. I'm not quite sure who he is and his relation to 'Wacky Races' but it's still a really useful symbol in this game.

Operating the game is easy enough with all the main control buttons down at the bottom of the screen and there is an autoplay feature. You can also access the paytable for lots of info and see an example of the Quick March Bonus round.

Bonus Games

If you can get three or more of the Dick Dastardly symbol on any payline then this gets you into the free spins round. This must be the first time Dick has been linked with anything that resembles a win. Three symbols award you ten free spins, four get you 15 and five Dastardly's see you given 20 free spins to play with. Any wins you get during the free spins round are doubled.

Three of the General symbols anywhere on the reels get you into the Quick March bonus round. This is a safe-cracker round and the more General symbols that trigger the round, the higher the cash prizes will be. I really love this round because once it's triggered, a second screen appears and there's good old Muttley (no sign of Dick) and five safes, each of which have a fuse wire attached to them. Muttley lights a fuse wire and blows the safe to reveal a cash win. It'd have perhaps been better if Dick had turned up to blow a safe and accidentally blow himself up but that's put an image in your head anyway.

Conclusion

I love 'Wacky Races' (you might have gathered that by now) and yes I'm a fan of this game but it could be better. It'd have been good to see more characters from the show and perhaps some interaction between them. I still have no idea who that wild symbol is but this is fun to play, especially the Quick March round.
