Bangkok Nights

Bangkok Nights Slot Review

You can probably think of quite a few things to do on a night in Bangkok but this slot game from NextGen doesn't go down that kind of route. Instead we have an entertaining game that celebrates life in Thailand where many a British holidaymaker goes for a good time.

This is a five reel game with 20 paylines for you to try and win some money on. Your stake can vary from £0.01 to £20 meaning the most you can have resting on one spin of the reels is £40. Not too high a figure but just decide a financial budget and stick to it.

When the introduction came up I was really impressed with the graphics but all the budget must have gone on that.. There's a graphic of some buildings in the background and a couple of cheap looking dragons to the left and right of the reels. The actual symbols for the game are a major disappointment. They're really basic and don't really scream exotic Thailand at me. They include a dancer who could have come from anywhere really but does have a bit of animation attached, ticket stubs, masks, jewellery and a Bangkok Nights sign. The lack of effort is confirmed by filling the rest of the reels up with the ten through to ace symbols.

The dancing girl is the wild in this game and substitutes for other symbols in the game. Five of the dancing girl symbols pays the jackpot.

There's a gamble feature available in 'Bangkok Nights' and again this has nothing to do with the theme of the game. It's the usual guessing the colour of the next card to double a win and correctly choosing the suit of the next card to quadruple the win.

All the control buttons are down at the bottom of the screen allowing you to set your stake, spin etc. There's also an autoplay button that can be set up to 500 automated spins.

Bonus Features

No one ever wants to miss out on some free spins so you'll be delighted when you get some in 'Bangkok Nights.' To do so you need three of the Bangkok Nights club symbol and this gives you 12 free spins to try and do some damage with. Even better all your wins during the free spins receive a 3x multiplier and you can re-trigger the free spins if those scatter symbols make another appearance.

When the dancing girl lands on the first and fifth reels then this gets you into a Pick 'Em bonus round. There's five prizes to choose from and they reveal cash prizes. You can carry on making choices but each time you do you're gambling the amount you've already won. If you choose a smaller prize than previously revealed then you lose what you've won. If all goes well you could win up to 100x your stake. It's also possible to get into this round when you're in a free spins feature.

Conclusion

The game play is good here but little effort has been made with the theme of the game. The soundtrack and particularly the symbols are a big disappointment. Why have a theme if you can't put effort into it?
