Frankie Dettori’s Magic Seven

Frankie Dettori's Magic Seven

I remember that afternoon when Frankie Dettori rode seven winners out of seven at Ascot. I don't think I've ever seen our local bookie that upset, he had to go home in his Rolls Royce and take a holiday in the Caribbean to get over it. It was a truly magical sporting moment and this Playtech game celebrates that wonderful achievement.

This is a five reel game that has five reels and 25 paylines that you can play. Now just like when you're going through the form book trying to work out who's going to win the 3.30 at Ascot, take some time over deciding your stake per spin. The maximum cost per spin is £0.01 and the maximum £1250, just like when betting on the horses simply choose a stake you can afford to lose and enjoy the game.

As you might imagine most of the symbols in this game have a horse racing theme. There's a lucky horseshoe, the winning post, a Gold Cup and three images of Frankie. There's one with him smiling, another riding another winner and him celebrating that win probably getting ready for his famous dismount after winning a Group One winner. There's also the game logo which is the bonus symbol in this game and the ten to Ace playing card symbols to pad out the reels. Some images of horses might have been a good idea considering the theme of the game. Come to think about it, why not bring back the 7s and have those instead of the ten to Ace?

The 7s theme does get a part to play in the jackpot in this game. The wild symbol is Frankie smiling away and his symbols turns into the word 'Wild' when it substitutes for another symbol and gets you a win. Five of the wild symbol on a payline pays you 7,777x your stake.

There's a gamble feature in this game that sees you having to guess the next card. There's five cards in a row and you have to choose a higher card than the one the dealer has. If you want to instead of gambling all your win you can opt to just decide half of your current win. The maximum you can win here is £1000. Just be careful not to get carried away and leave this feature with some money to add to your account balance. This is a much better gamble feature than others we've reviewed especially with the option to only bet half the amount.

Bonus Games

If you can get the bonus symbol to appear on the first and fifth reels at the same time then that's great news. Why? Well it's because this triggers the Magic Seven Bonus feature. This is a pick 'em game where you need to pick spots on a racetrack to reveal cash prizes. There's 20 spots to choose from and if you're lucky enough to reveal a trophy you get to see one of the seven races that Frankie won that afternoon back in 1996. The trophy also increases the size of the multiplier by one and goes from 1x to 7x. You can keep choosing spots until collect is revealed and if you're really lucky in this bonus game you can win 280x your stake, almost as good as an all correct Yankee on a wet afternoon at Sedgefield.

Three or more of the game logo symbol triggers the Free Games Race feature. The reels turn into a race track and there are three horses in the race (good to firm ground probably caused a few non-runners). Pick a horse and if i wins you get 35 free spins, if it fills the runners up spot then you only get 15 and if like so many that I've backed it comes last you only get 10 which is still better than nothing I guess. During the free spins there are more wild and scatter symbols added to the reels to give you more chance of winning and retriggering the free spins. You can't trigger the Free Games or Magic Seven bonus features during the free spins.

Conclusion

Horse racing fans will love this even if Frankie has just pipped your selection in the latest big race. It's not too easy to get into the bonus games but once there they are definitely worth it.
