Subtopia

Subtopia Slot Review

Time to take a trip under the sea, way under the waves. This game from NetEnt who definitely won’t be going under any time soon such is the quality of their games, is set on a submarine. It has some great features and is fun to play too so what’s it all about then?

We’re under the sea and that’s apparent from the view that can be seen behind the reels. There seems to be some underwater city, probably Atlantis, who knows? ‘Subtopia’ is a five-reel game with three rows of symbols. There are 20 paylines but these aren’t a fixed amount. That means you have some big decisions to make before spinning the reels. You need to work out your coin value, how many coins you’ll place on each line and how many lines you’ll activate. The minimum cost of playing the game is just £0.01 and the maximum £200 so finding a comfortable level to play at isn’t a problem.

The symbols in the game include a diver with a moustache, an engineer with purple hair, a mechanic, the captain of the submarine and another scientist, this time with red hair. One suspects this is a boring job and there’s a fair bit of hair dye around.

The wild symbol is a golden icon and this can substitute for other symbols in the game to get you some winning combinations. It can’t substitute for the scatter symbol which is a compass. Get that in the right numbers and it’ll show you the way to some great cash prizes. In addition there’s also a random multiplier symbol to help you get even bigger wins.

The soundtrack to the game is entertaining enough and you won't feel a strong desire to press the mute button and get rid of it. Sonar bleeps aren't destined to be a chart success any time soon though. This isn't too complicated a game but a good look through the paytable will help your understanding of the game. Some free games will help too. If you don't want to be spending all night staring at the screen waiting for your next big win, you can set an autoplay feature. Between ten and a thousand automated spins can be set or go for the advanced setting that allows a more precise number to be set.

Bonus Games

If you can get at least three of the compass scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, then this gets you into the free spins round. This is supposedly an unlimited amount but will come to an end when the Multiplier Meter that is at the bottom right of the reels stops on the skull and crossbones symbol. That Multiplier switches between 2x, 4x and 6x so some good wins can be had here.

Conclusion

Even if you can't swim this is another great game from NetEnt. The multiplier in the main game is really helpful and the bonus game can definitely get you some good wins, especially if the multiplier reaches high levels.
