Superman can leap tall buildings in a single bound you know but why can’t he just stop showing off? He could always just walk around them I guess. Well this slot from Cryptologic is all about the man from Krypton and it’s an really entertaining game with some great chances to get some good wins.
Cryptologic are best known for their games about leading characters from the Marvel Universe. Now they turn their attention to DC Comics and Superman. This has five-reels, three rows of symbols featuring some of the most popular characters from the comics and movies and a total of 50 paylines.
It’s entirely up to the player how many of those paylines are activated. The minimum cost of playing ‘Superman’ is just £0.01 and you can go all the way up to £100 in normal play. Just work out a budget you feel comfortable with and can afford to lose. It can be even more expensive to play the game if you decide to activate the bonus bet. More about that later.
In the background we can see the city of Metropolis that seems as if it’s having a quiet day for a change. That’s the problem with having superheroes, the minute they appear so do a load of super villains determined to cause havoc.
Symbols in the game include Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, the Daily Planet logo, Clark Kent’s glasses, some kryptonite, a fist, a tank and the capsule that Superman travelled in from Krypton.
Superman is the wild character in this game and his super powers allow him to substitute for other symbols to get you winning combinations. There’s also the scatter which is the Superman logo and plays a big part in triggering the bonus game.
Bonus Games
To get some free spins you need to get Superman on the second, third and fourth reels. Doing that wins you ten free spins and during them there’s an expanding wild on one random reel on each spin. That really increases your chances of getting some good wins. If it does manage to do that then the win gets a 5x multiplier.
There’s also the Bonus Bet and here’s where playing the game can get a bit more expensive. This allows you to play with sixty paylines. When activated the peaceful Metropolis goes right out the window as there seems to be explosions left, right and centre, perhaps Lex Luthor is up to no good again. If you are playing at the minimum £0.01 coin size, activating the Bonus Bet takes the cost of playing up to £0.60. The maximum £100 increases further to £120. This can get you some wins but just be careful with your budget.
The Save the World Feature is activated when three Superman bonus symbols appear anywhere on the reels when the Bonus Bet is activated. It’s time for Superman to come to the rescue again (probably just as he was settling down to watch some telly) as he has to fly through space. His task is to destroy missiles and meteors to win you some cash prizes.
He’s not finished yet though as he next flies across an arctic landscape to three safes. One has a hostage inside and opening that wins you a prize, another reveals Lex Luthor and capturing him wins you up to 100x the bet that triggered the bonus. Keep away from the other one though as that contains Kryptonite and ends the bonus game.
Conclusion
There’s certainly plenty going on in this game. The Superman theme is well adhered to and the game has a good look to it and soundtrack. The bonus games are exciting, just be careful not to overdo the Bonus Bet.
