Halloween is always a fun subject for a slot game. There’s so many monsters out there and a variety of ways in which you can approach the subject. In ‘Halloweenies’ the emphasis is on some fun as well as a touch of horror.
This is another hit slot from Microgaming who certainly know how to put out a successful slot and have been doing so for a couple of decades now.
‘Halloweenies’ is a five-reel game with three rows and has a total of 20 paylines. That’s not a fixed amount so it’s up to you to decide your coin size (£0.01 to £0.50), how many lines you want to activate and the total number of coins per line (1-5). The minimum cost of playing the game is just £0.01 and the maximum £50. That’s a wide enough range to allow you to find a satisfactory stake level you feel comfortable with.
All the symbols are theme related which is always good to see. They include a zombie (they get everywhere these days), Frankenstein’s monster, a witch and a wolf. The lower value symbols are sweets such as liquorice allsorts and wine gums. The sweets have charming words written on them, such as R.I.P. and Boo.
The wild symbol here is the animated selection of sweets. This can substitute for all other symbols to create winning combinations. That’s with the exception of the two scatter symbols which are a pumpkin and a pink rabbit that are vital in triggering the bonus games in ‘Halloweenies’
Playing the game is straightforward with all the major control buttons placed below the reels. It’s not a complicated game but still have a good look through the paytable to get used to all the rules and have some free games too before putting your real cash on the line.
There’s a couple of bonus games here. Firstly there’s the Pick a Pumpkin Bonus. This is triggered by getting at least three of the pumpkin scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. That means you have a good chance of getting into this round even if you don’t activate all the paylines, just one would do actually. Once you’ve triggered the bonus round your task is simply to pick three pumpkins and reveal some cash prizes. The more scatter symbols that trigger the round, the highTher the cash prizes available will be.
At least three of the pink rabbit scatter symbols will see you awarded with some free spins. You’re given 13 free spins which sounds lucky to me. During the free spins all wins are tripled and you can re-trigger the free spins.
There’s plenty of fun to be had with this game. The symbols and spooky music certainly build the theme up well and it’s not too expensive a game to play. If you wanted to you could just play minimum stakes and just hope those scatter symbols make the required appearances. The bonus rounds are profitable too, especially the free spins round so this is definitely one to play regardless of the time of year.
