House of Dragons

House of Dragons Slot Review

It’s time to take another trip to a popular theme for many a slot machine. We’re off to China for ‘House of Dragons’ which comes from Microgaming who have a great record when it comes to producing this kind of game.

The game is set in the kind of courtyard that we’re used to seeing in so many dramas and history books. There are more dragons here than the average episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ though these are more of the ornamental kind. The reels themselves are set within a couple of pillars that are decorated of course with dragons, no surprise there. The soundtrack to ‘House of Dragons’ is a gentle one that you won’t be wanting to mute within seconds of hearing it for the first time.

This is a five-reel game that has a total of 20 paylines for you to try and win some cash on.

Symbols in the game keep up the Chinese theme. There’s a Chinese coin, an archer, a red lantern and a fan. Not so Oriental are the playing card symbols that fill out the rest of the reels and supply you with low value wins.

There are two wild symbols in this game, namely the golden dragon and the Emperor. These can substitute for other symbols to create some winning combinations. It can’t substitute for either the scatter symbol which is the fan or the archer which is the bonus symbol. If it's the dragon that helps create a winning combination then that win is doubled so that's really handy.

Playing the game is pretty straightforward but have a look through the paytable anyway. That and a few free games will get you fully used to how the game plays before risking your real cash balance. If you want to set an autoplay this can be done for up to 50 automated spins. This can be stopped at any time and will end once a bonus round is triggered.

Bonus Games

If you can get three or more of the fan scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, this triggers the Fan Feature. Each of the fans are turned over and they’ll reveal a possible win and a multiplier too. This might not actually win you anything but you’ll soon learn this is a bonus round that can be triggered rather regularly.

The main bonus game is the Archery game. Three or more of the archer symbols on an active payline will qualify you for this. There’s a bit of a gamble involved here as you’re asked to either gamble the line win you’ve just had but at the risk of losing it. Ok, so you’ve been brave and decided to take the gamble on. You have to pick one of the four targets on the screen, each of which has a different prize on offer. The archer now takes aim and hopefully he’ll hit the required target. If he misses though that’s the bet lost.

Conclusion

An entertaining game to play with an enjoyable theme. The bonus games are pretty good too and are a bit different from the usual menu of free spins.
