Mount Olympus The Revenge of Medusa Slot Review
It’s back to characters from Greek mythology for this entertaining slot from Genesis. They keep on putting out some excellent games and this is no exception to the rule.
Medusa is that strange looking woman who has snakes for hair. Stare at her directly and you turn to stone. Word is she’s on the black list of every single hairdresser in Greece after some rather unfortunate incidents during a blow dry appointment.
This is a five-reel game that has a total of three rows and 25 paylines for you to win some money on. In the background we see a rather rainy day and possibly where Medusa is hanging out planning her terrible revenge. Playing the game costs between £0.01 and £125, a decent range for fun seeking players and those out to win big prizes. The bonus game here is rather lucrative so it’s an idea to activate as many paylines as possible.
Symbols in the game include the sword that belongs to Perseus which will eventually end Medusa’s life (no happy ending for her then), Medusa’s eye and the evil woman herself. We also rather disappointingly get the nine to Ace playing card symbols. That’s far too many and we’d have been better off with another Greek God or theme-related symbol.
The lack of creativity in the symbols continues with the two bonus ones. The wild symbol simply has Wild in big letters. It’s a really useful symbol though as it can substitute for other symbols to get you some winning combinations almost out of thin air. It can’t do that though for the scatter symbol which is the game logo. That helps get you into the bonus game, hence the wild not being able to help you here.
Make sure that there are no nasty surprises while playing this game. By that I mean find out as much as you can about how the game works before you start playing it for real. There’s nothing worse than something happening in gameplay that you just don’t know anything about. A look through the paytable will teach you all you need to know. Then have some free games and see everything in action.
To get into the free spins round you need to get at least three of the scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. That’s handy as it means you can activate just one payline if you wish and still be in with a chance of getting into the lucrative bonus game.
Once that requirement has been achieved, you get five free spins. Now that’s not too high a number is it but along comes Medusa to give you a bit of help. You get to see a row of her symbols and you have to pick one of them. This reveals which of the reels will be frozen for the next spin of the reels. This is restricted to the second to fifth reels but one of them will become completely wild. Now that really boosts your chances of getting some good wins.
It can get even better if all of the second to fifth reels become wild, that will really see your account balance climbing at a good rate.
Apart from the lack of imagination with the symbols (the ones that are theme-related do look good though) this is a really enjoyable game. There are definitely some good wins to be had in the bonus game with all those wild symbols.
