Thunderstruck II

Thunderstruck 2 Slot Review

We’re back In the world of Norse mythology for this sequel to Microgaming’s successful ‘Thunderstruck’ release. A sequel is always a little bit tricky because you don’t want to be accused of being lazy and just putting out something that is almost identical to the first game. That’s not the case here and the look of the game and the bonus features are extremely different.

The first game had a lot of golden symbols and not that much of a Norse look to it really. That’s not the case in the sequel with some excellently designed graphics.

The game has five reels, three rows of columns but whereas the first game had nine paylines, the sequel has 243 ways to win. That huge number is achieved because symbols can form winning combinations from left to right and also right to left. All they need to be is on adjacent reels. The minimum bet per spin is €0.30 but if you’re feeling flush you can splash out up to €15.00 per spin

With this sequel, the emphasis seems to be more on the warrior life of the characters with stone carvings aplenty. Symbols include Odin, Thor, Loki and Valkyrie, Valhalla which is the home of the gods and a Viking longship.
The Thunderstruck 2 Logo is the wild symbol in this game and can substitute for other symbols in order to get you some winning combinations. It’s not possible for the wild to sub for the scatter symbol which is Thor’s Hammer.

Bonus Games

The Wildstorm feature comes along on a random basis. When it does it’s really worth it as this has the ability to turn up to five reels completely wild. That can really get you some good winning combinations.

The main feature here is the Great Hall of Spins. You need to get three or more of Thor’s Hammer symbols to trigger this. The first four times you manage to do this the Valkyrie Bonus is awarded. After that other characters and bonuses can be unlocked so the longer you play the more profitable this game can get.

With the Valkyrie Bonus you get ten free spins with a 5x multiplier. Next step up is to the Loki Bonus where the number of free spins goes up to 15 and the Wild Magic symbol on the third reel does you a favour by randomly transferring symbols into wilds. It’s also possible to re-trigger this bonus if Thor’s Hammer symbols turn up again.

After the 10th trigger you can play the Odin Bonus where you’re lucky enough to receive 20 free spins and the Raven feature. This turns symbols into either 2x or 3x multipliers. If you get both ravens then that gets you a 6x multiplier.

Finally you can get the Thor Bonus from the 15th trigger You now get 25 free spins with rolling reels that increase the multiplier by 1x with every consecutive win that you get. With free spins being able to be re-triggered this can be really profitable if your luck is in.

This is a lot better in my opinion than the original game and how many times is the sequel better? Not many as anyone who has seen Grease 2 will testify. The bonus games, look and the soundtrack are all a lot better so this is highly recommended, especially as the original game is pretty good too. Remember to check the paytable and have some free games to learn even more about the game.
