Dogfather

Dogfather Slot Review

The Mafia has really changed over the years, in fact you could say that it's gone to the dogs. This is an amusing little slot from Microgaming who have been producing a string of great casino games for a couple of decades

This is a five reel game with 20 paylines. The minimum cost of playing the game is £0.01 and the maximum £50. You can choose between one and five coins to play on each of the paylines and choosing this is easily done using the control buttons at the bottom of the screen.

Symbols in the game include a gun, a stuffed bunny, some brass knuckles, a fire hydrant that the dogs must love, shampoo and gloves and some wonderfully named dogs – Knuckle and Duster, Cleaner, Vinny and Fi-Fi.

The Dogfather is the wild symbol in this game. This can substitute for all the other symbols in the game with the exception of the two scatter symbols. The wild can really help you get some winning combinations, full details of which can be found in the paytable. This is a great symbol especially when we see him smoking his cigar (I'm not telling him it's bad for him) and when he's seen reading the book 'Taking Care of Cats' and giving them some fish and an occasional saucer of milk probably isn't on the agenda.

There are two scatter symbols in this game. Whereas the other symbols only pay left to right, these pay in any direction and don't need to be on the same payline. There's Itchy Da Flea (which can possibly also be seen on a few of the other canine symbols) and the fire hydrant which probably sees plenty of action.

As with many microgaming slots there's a regular and expert mode of play. The expert allows you to either get five or ten set autoplays or set your own number.

Bonus Games

There are two bonus games in 'Dogfather. For starters there's the Free Spins round. To trigger this you need three or more of the Itchy da Flea scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. This gives you 13 free spins and if you get any wins during them they get tripled. It's also possible to get another set of 13 free spins if three of those scatter symbols make another appearance. It's also possible to trigger the Mark Your Territory Bonus Feature game during the free spins you've won.

Three or more of the fire hydrant symbols ending up anywhere on the five reels gets you into the Mark Your Territory Bonus Feature game. Once that's done a second screen comes up and you have to choose between 13 fire hydrants. Behind each of them is a random bonus prize and this is multiplied by the number of coins you bet per payline and the number of paylines enabled to give you a bonus prize win amount. Just how many fire hydrant symbols triggered the bonus round determines how many you can choose. Each triggering fire hydrant gives you one choice so if really lucky you can have five to select.

Conclusion

The theme of this game definitely gives you a few laughs. It's an entertaining and straightforward game and there can be some good prizes won in the two bonus rounds.
