Double Bonus Poker

Double Bonus Poker Review

Poker remains one of the most popular card games that you can play. Whether it's down the casino, poker night in your local pub or sitting in front of your PC or mobile device, there's plenty of entertainment to be had.

Double Bonus Poker is produced by Microgaming who have been doing a great job producing casino games for a couple of decades now. This is another one of their hugely successful games and anyone who loves playing poker will be keen to be playing this.

The game has a simple look to it. The control buttons are down the bottom of the screen. The all-important five playing cards dominate the centre of the screen and above that is the paytable that shows you exactly how much can be won for each of the successful hands that you can get.

It's played with a standard deck of 52 cards, unlike some poker games out there this one doesn't have any wild cards. Before each game the cards are shuffled, hopefully better than I could ever manage during our poker afternoons. This ensures a random deal and you can be certain that none will ever end up on the carpet.

Using the plus and minus controls you can set your stake for the next game. Pressing 'Bet One' means you'll be gambling one unit times the coin size. If you press 'Bet Max' then surprise, surprise, you'll be gambling at the maximum amount. Once your stake has been deciding the paytable at the top of the page will move to the wins for the amount you have staked so you can see exactly what it is you can possibly win.

Time now for the action to begin, so just press 'Deal' and five cards will be dealt to you. Now it's decision time because you can click on individual cards to hold them. It may be you're close to a straight or a flush for example. Once that decision has been made you can press 'Draw' and any cards not held will disappear and be replaced by new cards drawn from the pack.

If you do end up with a win then there's a gamble feature that allows you to double your win. Now for a change it's not the so often see game of guessing the colour or suit of the next card. Here you have five cards dealt and the first one is face-up and is the dealer's card. Your cards are the other four and the task is to choose one of them and it it's higher than the dealer's card then well done you've just doubled your win. You can then decide if you want to double up again. Just be careful with this feature because continuing to get a higher card isn't the easiest of tasks in the world and doing one too many can cost you some good wins.

The minimum win in this game is for getting a pair of Jacks and wins you back your stake. Other payouts in rising order are: 2 pair, three of a kind, straight, flush, full house, 4 5-K, 4 2,3 or 4, four Aces, Straight Flush and the top payout is a Royal Flush (10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace all of the same suit) which pays 4000x your stake if playing at Bet Max.

Conclusion

This is a great little game and you definitely need your wits about you. Deciding just what to hold and taking deep breaths and not going for too many gambles on wins is really important. Again Microgaming have come up with an excellent game.
