Ho Ho Ho Slot Review

Isn’t Christmas wonderful? All the cards in the shops, seasonal food in the supermarkets and Advent calendars full of chocolate, but enough about July what about December. It really is a magical time of the year, it’s just when the credit card bill arrives the sparkle seems to fade away. Perhaps you’ll need to get some big wins in this great slot game from Microgaming. It’s not just at Christmas they come up with excellent slot games, they manage it all year round.

This is a five-reel game that has a total of 15 lines. It’s up to you to decide how many lines to activate and your stake on each line. The minimum cost of playing is just a penny and the maximum is £75. Simply choose a level you’re comfortable with and will still leave enough in your Christmas stocking.

The symbols in this game are the highlight for me. They really do put me in the mood for Christmas and bring out that little child that’s in all of us somewhere. They are a bit cartoonish but there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s a reindeer that of course has a red nose, the plate of cookies and milk we leave for Santa to keep him going as he delivers presents around the world, a candy cane, a tasty looking roast turkey, a gingerbread man and a sleigh full of Christmas presents. No playing card symbols here as we also have a Christmas pudding and a Christmas tree with lots of presents underneath it.

The wild symbol here is the Santa symbol and quite right too. He brings a bit of Christmas magic into the game by substituting for other symbols to help get you some winning combinations. It doesn’t do everything though, this may be a seasonal game but even Santa can’t substitute for the scatter symbol which is the Christmas Gift. That helps get you into the Free Spins round and that really is a Christmas gift you won’t take back to the shops on Boxing Day.

The good thing with the scatter is that it doesn’t have to be on an activated payline to get you a win or into the bonus round. That means it’s not necessary to have to activate all the paylines.

This game can be played in regular or expert mode. The main difference is that you can set an autoplay in expert mode. The game isn’t too difficult to play but have a look through the rules and the paytbable, then have some free games to get used to how Ho Ho Ho runs.

Bonus Games

We all appreciate being given a gift of some sort at Christmas. Three or more of the Christmas Gift scatter symbols will see you activate the Free Spins Bonus Round game. You receive 20 free spins and any winning combinations are doubled. Keep an eye out for those scatter symbols as three appearing again will earn you another 20 free spins with doubled wins.

There’s also a gamble feature and this is the usual guess the colour of the next card variety. Just try not to overdo this because it’s ok to gamble and double a win but frustrating when you lose the win you’ve just earned.

Conclusion

This is a really enjoyable game to play. The theme is perfectly adhered to and the bonus games can definitely pay for a few presents. Even Scrooge might enjoy this though he’d probably bet a minimum stake and probably not use the gamble feature.
