Munchkins

Munchkins Slot Review

When I first saw the title I had this horrible feeling it was going to be about those Munchkins in ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ Thankfully there’s not a lollipop in sight in this slot from superb game designer Microgaming.

Instead we get a game which features a number of items that have had something bitten out of them by munchkins. Yes, it’s a very strange theme and someone, somewhere must have been having some very strange dreams to come up with this one. It’s best really to forget the theme and just get on with playing the game and trying to win some money.

This strange little game has five reels and a total of 15 paylines. Playing the game costs between £0.01 and £150, a decent range that will satisfy players just out for some fun and those dreaming of winning big money.

The symbols in this game include a wallet, a school book and some car keys that have had bits bitten out of them. We also get the ten to Ace playing card symbols which have also suffered the same fate as the other symbols.

The wild symbol is a blue shape but not for long. When it substitutes for another symbol to get you a win, we finally find out what a munchkin looks like as the wild turns into one. It’s a little blue monster with a punk hairstyle, I think I’d have preferred the lollipop guild really. You won't be complaining if five of the wilds appear on an active payline as that has a 15,000x multiplier.

The wild can’t substitute for the scatter symbol which is a chocolate biscuit. That’d made it far easier to get into the bonus game so we can’t have that can we?

Have a good look through the paytable before playing with real cash. That and some free games will teach you all there is to know about the game. The game can be played in regular or expert mode, the only real difference being able to set an autoplay in expert mode.

Bonus Games

The bonus game here is of the free spins variety. There are 20 up for grabs if you can manage to get at least three of the biscuit scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. During the free spins all your wins are doubled and it’s also possible to re-trigger the free spins. Just hope those scatters turn up in the required numbers again. Whoever said biscuits are bad for you were totally wrong when it comes to this game.

There is also a gamble feature in this game. As usual it’s the guess the next card routine. You should know the drill by now, guess the colour of the next card to double a win You’re allowed five correct guesses but just one slip up loses you your win. Try this with a pack of cards and discover just how difficult this can be.

Conclusion

A strange little game with a bizarre theme. The graphics are ok though and there are some good wins to be had here in the free spins game. Be wary about the gamble feature and get rid of the soundtrack as soon as possible, it drove me round the bend almost instantly.
