Wildcat Canyon

Wildcat Canyon Slot Review

If you’re looking for a slot that has some cartoonish characters for its symbols then ‘Wildcat Canyon.’ This release from NextGen Gaming might have you recalling some of the classic Road Runner cartoons and it’s full of fun and chances to win good prizes.

The background to the game shows a cloudy blue sky and a rocky landscape which is the canyon that is the setting for this game. The title is a clever one as the wild symbol has a big part to play in this game. More about that in
a moment.

‘Wildcat Canyon’ has five reels, three rows of symbols and there are 25 paylines for you to get some wins on. It’s not compulsory to play all 25 of the paylines, you can play just one if you want too. It’s entirely down to you how many lines you play and your stake on each of them. Playing the game costs between £0.01 and £50, just work out a budget you’re entirely comfortable with.

Symbols include some cacti, a goat, an eagle and two snakes, one red and the other black. We also get the nine to Ace playing card symbols which are the lower value ones but I’d prefer to see some more theme-related symbols in the game.

The wildcat is the wild here which is about right. It only appears on the second and fourth reels but can substitute for other symbols to get you some winning combinations. It can’t substitute for the scatter symbol though, that’s the paw print and as you’ll read it plays a big part in triggering the bonus round.

Bonus Games

You need to get three or more of the scatter symbols anywhere on the reels to earn you some free spins. Once that’s done you have a decision to make regards how many free spins you want to play with and how high a multiplier. You can either have 15 free spins and get a 3x multiplier for any wild wins, 10 free spins but with the multiplier up to 5x and five free spins but the multiplier for wild wins an impressive 10x. The middle option looks the best one to go for.

There are more chances to get wins during the free spins round as any wilds landing on the reels stay in place for the rest of the free spins. Also it’s possible to re-trigger the free spins.

There’s also a gamble feature in this game that crops up after a winning combination in the base game. You don’t have to play it but if you do, it’s the usual game of having to correctly predict the correct colour (to double a win) or suit (to quadruple the win). There are five correct guesses available but get it wrong and you lose your win so be careful here.

Conclusion

There’s lots to enjoy in this game. It has a great look and sound to it. The bonus game has some nice touches and the multipliers can really help get you some good wins. Just be wary of that gamble feature though, no point chucking away wins.
