Wings of Gold

Wings of Gold Slot Review

Time for a trip back to World War two and it's up, up and away into the skies. No sign of Biggles or the Red Baron but this is another enjoyable game from Playtech who just keep on coming up with entertaining slot games.

'Wings of Gold' features some planes that gave their pilots plenty of excitement but not always the sort that they really appreciated. You had to be brave to go up in these and thankfully the only spin we go for is when we set the reels in motion.

This is a five reel game that has 20 paylines. This isn't a fixed amount as seen in some games so you have to make a decision on how many you want to activate and the stake on each of them. The cost of playing this game ranges from £0.20 all the way up to £100. A decent range that will satisfy the low and high rollers.

The background to the game is a cloudy blue sky. On the reels the symbols are a mixture of those that are theme-related and the nine to Ace playing card symbols that at least have been given a bit of a metallic look. They still tend to dominate the reels though which is a shame. The theme-related symbols are a very good looking female flyer complete with blue cap (she flashes a bit of cleavage during the intro to the game), there's a pilot who of course has a moustache and three kinds of fighter pilots.

The wild symbol is the pilot and substitutes for other symbols apart from the Wings of Gold logo which is the scatter symbol in this game. The control buttons for the game are all down the bottom of the screen and you can set an autoplay of up to 99 automated spins.

Bonus Games

The game contains the Xtrawin feature that is seen in several Playtech slot games. This can be activated by clicking the Xtrawin button. You'll find this in the top right hand corner of the screen but playing this will increase the cost of playing the game by 50% of your current stake. If choosing to pay the extra you're rewarded with a gold background and there's an expanding wild. Not only will that increase your chances of getting more winning combinations but when it does appear there's a bit of animation with a plane flying around.

The Medal of Honour Bonus game can be activated by getting three or more of the Wing of Gold logos anywhere on the reels. A second screen appears and this contains three medals. Pick one and then you'll see some special reels and you need to count how many times your chosen medal appears on those reels. This determines just how many free spins you will receive. That could be between five and a massive 100 free spins. During the free spins the Xtrawin feature is in play and there's no need to pay any extra. it's also possible to get more free spins if three more scatter symbols appear during the free spins.

Conclusion

Another entertaining game from Playtech and aside from there being too many playing card symbols, this is fun to play and profitable too. Be careful with the Xtrawin feature though and don't use up too much of your financial budget on it.
