Kathmandu Slot Review
Our round the world tour hits Nepal and its capital Kathmandu. This is another slot from Microgaming who keep on coming up with great ideas and locations for games.
This is a five-reel game that has three rows and just the nine paylines. They aren’t fixed so you have to decide how many to activate, your coin size and how many coins to play on each of the paylines. This means the cost of playing the game goes from £0.01 to £45. There should be little difficulty finding a stake you’ll feel totally comfortable with.
There’s nothing in the background which is a little bit disappointing. The actual symbols in the game are basic but well-designed. They include a map of Nepal, an elephant being led along by a local, the sun rising over the mountain and some market goods. There’s not one but two wilds in this game, namely the spinning wheel and the temple. These can substitute for other symbols to create winning combinations. Remember though there are only a maximum of nine paylines so the wins created by the wilds aren’t that high. The wild symbols can’t substitute for the bonus symbol which is the bill. Filling out the reels are the Ten to Ace playing cards, a bit of a waste really and nothing to do with the theme.
Five of the spinning wheel wild symbols win you 6000x your line bet so that’s definitely one to keep an eye out for.
The game can be played in either regular or expert mode. What’s the difference? Well in the expert mode you can have access to an autoplay feature. Either use the button at the bottom of the screen to set five or ten automated spins. For a more precise autoplay you can set up to 500 automated spins and get it to stop when a certain level of win has just come your way.
This isn’t the most complex of games at all. It is a good idea to have a good look through the paytable to fully understand just how this game plays out. A few free games will also help give you the experience needed before you start risking your own cash balance.
15 free spins will be on their way to you if at least three of the scatter symbols appear anywhere on the reels. There’s also a random multiplier of up to 5x that can be applied to any winning combinations you get during the free spins.
The game has a gamble feature but it’s one to be careful with. It’s the same old guess the next card game with the correct guess of a colour doubling your win and the right suit quadrupling your win. Just don’t overdo this because it’s not the easiest of gambles. Have a go with a set of playing cards and see just how difficult this is to keep getting wins.
The theme is a good one and there are definitely some good wins to be had here. It has a basic look to it but that shouldn’t put you off playing it one little bit.
