Scrooge Slot Review

I very much doubt that Ebeneezer Scrooge would ever consider playing slot games. The old miser would see them very much as something that would put his hard earned riches at severe risk. Such is the way he thinks, even if he did see this great slot from Microgaming courtesy of the Ghost of Christmas Future, he’d probably still keep his hands firmly in his pocket.

This game is a faithful reproduction of the classic Dickens story. It has a great look to it and lots of work have gone into the superb graphics. Above the reels we can see Victorian London and Christmas is just around the corner not that Ebeneezer cares one bit about that.

‘Scrooge’ is a five-reel game with three rows of symbols and a total of 50 paylines for you to try and win some money on. The 50 paylines aren’t fixed so you need to work out your coin value (£0.01 to £0.50), how many coins to place on each line (1-10) and how many paylines to activate. This means you can play from £0.01 (I bet Scrooge would play that, especially if he found the penny) all the way up to £250 if you’re a high roller looking out to win some big cash prizes.

The symbols come from the book so we get an animated door-knocker, a set of keys, a clock, a locked ledger, a pile of cash Scrooge loves more than anything else, a safe, Tiny Tim, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future and of course Scrooge himself.

The wild symbol here is the wreath of silver coins and can substitute for other symbols to get you some good winning combinations. It can’t do that for the scatter symbol which is the door knocker that first indicates to Scrooge that ghostly happenings are on their way. If you can get five Scrooge symbols on an active payline that wins you 600x your line bet.

Have a good look through the paytable before you start playing the game. That’ll teach you lots about how the game runs. Also have some free plays to see the game and all its bonus features in operation.

Bonus Games

On the left of the reels is a calendar and this plays an important part in the bonus game. When you get a winning combination you can choose a symbol which then either gives you a free spin or moves the calendar along another day. When the calendar reaches the 25th the bonus feature will begin and the number of free spins you’ve collected along the way come into play. The calendar then goes back to the 1st and the number of spins to three.

Now I’ve always wondered how the new-look Scrooge can just go out and get a turkey or goose on Christmas Day morning and cook it straight away. In this game we have a Christmas Dinner bonus game. If you can get at least three of the golden door-knocker scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, then this gets you into the bonus round. Five of the characters in the game are shown to you and five meals (more than Tiny Tim has had all month) with multipliers attached to them. You need to drag a meal to one of the characters and then your win is revealed.

Conclusion

An excellent slot from Microgaming. The theme is a perfect one and brilliantly adhered to. The bonus games are equally entertaining and profitable so this is highly recommended.
