Don’t worry they’re not really that scary but are they going to be friends? Well if the creatures in this excellent slot from Microgaming can win you some big cash prizes, then the answer is most definitely going to be yes.
‘Scary Friends’ is a five-reel game that has three rows of symbols and a total of 25 paylines. The reels aren’t that large and are situated on the right hand side of the screen. On the left hand there’s a large hairy monster who’s animated and has a little furry creature in his hands. I did think at one stage it was his dinner but I think he loves him too much to do that. He keeps an eye on the reels and gets excited when you win, even throwing the little furry creature up in the air, don't worry he does successfully catch him.
Playing the game isn't too expensive. The 25 paylines aren't a fixed number so you can play with just the one for £0.01 if you want. The highest level is £50 for all the paylines at £2 a line, not bad if you are a high roller. Simply play at a level you can afford to lose.
The symbols are fun to look at with the scary friends in a variety of colours. This includes an orange one, a green one, a brown Cyclops like creature and a pink one. We also get the ten to King playing card symbols, perhaps the Ace is on holiday.
The big monster we see on the left of the reels is also the wild character here. He can substitute for other symbols to get you some good wins. He can't do that for the free spins symbol or the bonus symbol which features all four creatures.

Bonus Games
If you can get three of the scatter symbols anywhere on the reels then this gets you into the bonus rounds. When this happens one of those strange looking furry creatures suddenly starts bouncing up and down next to the reels. How many times he can bounce will determine just how many free spins you are going to receive. This can be between three and 14 free spins, I guess it depends on whether he’s been going to those keep fit classes. There could be more free spins on the way as it’s possible to re-trigger them.
The Scary Friends Bonus has four monsters sitting in a wheel, that’s probably what scary monsters like doing these days. You need to choose one of them and how long they hang on when the wheel starts spinning determines how much you win.
Also in this game there’s a gamble feature. The most recent win in the base game can be doubled by guessing the colour of the next card. It sounds good but it’s an easy way of giving back valuable wins. You are allowed five correct guesses so wins can grow considerably but one mistake and that win is gone, so be careful with this.
Conclusion
A really enjoyable slot from Microgaming. I like the way it looks and sounds and the bonus game can definitely get you some good wins. The reels could be a little bit larger though.
